can i print from a computer to a photo printer?

i'm thinking of buying a photo printer, but to print out images from the internet as would a normal printer. Is this possible? and if so do i have to look for a certain specification when buying it?

1. as long as the photo printer can handlde normal paper (ie. 8.5 x 11) than anything you want to print can be printed. Almost all printers on the market are photo capable, however a stand along photo printer (the little ones which only prit 4 x 6 pictures) cannot be used as document printers.
