photo printer? please can someone advise me about buying a photo printer. i would like to know what specifications im looking for, as i dont know much about this stuff. i love taking photos and have just shelled out on a new digital camera. i have an epson all in 1 scanner copier and printer, which is fine for printing documents etc, and for some reason photos look ok on ordinary plain paper but lose quality on glossy photo paper(sounds mad i know). i also have a compact photo printer by hp which gives better photos, but they still nowhere near the quality of a proper photo(is this even possible?)and can only do 6x4 prints. if you can reccomend a printer thats good but can some1 explain what features i need to look for please. aha yes, my printer gives me options of paper types-plain papers, epson matt epson ultra glossy etc etc but will not allow me to choose any other than plain papers, is this cos somehow it knows that the paper is not epson branded? computers are just too clever for me!

I just got a new Epson r1800 photo printer for a present. What kind of learning curve till I master it? I just got a great present: an r1800 Epson photo printer. I just spent the past year mastering digital photography and photoshop. I am really appreciate about getting this gift, but how long will it take for me to master the printing process, say, if I have about 7 to 10 hours to study it a week? Shouldn't I be able to print pics from my Kodak camera when it's hooked up my Kodak photo printer? I have my camera dock hooked up to my photo printer, when I have the camera on and press share, and then print, why won't it print? I'm looking for a photo printer that prints from the computer? For the last few years I have had a Kodak Easyshare CX7530 camera and the Easyshare Printer dock that came along with it. The dock connects to the computer and allows me to download images from the camera to the computer and to print photos from the computer to the printer dock. Kodak does not seem to make the printer docks anymore and we're looking for something that can supply similar functionality. We're also replacing the camera so if there are some good combos out there for camera/printers that someone can suggest that'd be greatly appreciated as well.
