Mythology, written by Edith Hamilton and published in 1942, is a collection of classical Greek myths. Hubris was a common characteristic among the individuals in each of the adventure myths. Icarus illustrated hubris in one of the adventure myths when he disobeyed his father. His father, Daedalus, was an intelligent architect who constructed wings for his son and himself to escape a labyrinth in which they trapped. While flying, Icarus’ wings detached because he flew too close to the sun after Daedalus warned him about it. “He soared exultingly up and up, paying no attention to his father’s anguished commands. Then he fell.” (Hamilton 145) Although this was a little hubristic because Icarus believed he could ignore his father’s warning and the laws of nature, it does not demonstrate pride that excessively, because it was not an attempt for Icarus to prove himself greater than his ability or his place, nor did he disobey the Gods. “As the two flew lightly and without effort away from Crete the delight of this new and wonderful power went to the boy’s head.” (Hamilton 145) For this reason, Icarus was the least hubristic of the three persons. When meeting his father for the first time, Phaethon wanted proof that he was the child of the sun god. Therefore, his father mistakenly promised to give his son whatever he wanted. Phaethon then decided he wanted to ride the sun god’s chariot through the sky. Afraid of putting his son in danger, the sun god tried to convince Phaethon to wish for something else because that job was too risky to be attempted by anyone other than himself. Phaethon stubbornly debated with his father until it was finally granted that he would ride the chariot. When this time came, Phaethon lost control of the horses pulling the chariot and he rapidly fell to the earth, setting it on fire. Seeing this, Zeus launched a thunderbolt toward him to kill him and stop the destruction. These actions reveal Phaethon as hubristic because he thought he could do something that was only achievable by a god and because he acted against the gods. “Listen while I tell you what this is you want… You are mortal and no mortal could drive my chariot. Indeed, no god except myself can do that.” (Hamilton 137) Nevertheless, his hubris was still partially understandable because he seemed to be motivated to think that way based on negative life situations. “I have come… to find out if you are my father or not. My mother said you were, but the but the boys at school laugh when I tell them I am your son.” (Hamilton 136) Therefore, his pride did not exceed that of Bellerphon. Bellerephon demonstrated even more hubris in his story. Bellerophon’s goal was to obtain the winged horse Pegasus. He was eventually able to do so after receiving a golden bridle from Athena. With possession of the Pegasus, Bellerophon was able to fight of monsters and his expectations grew higher. After all his success, Bellerophon felt that he was too good to live on earth and he should travel up to mount Olympus and be with the gods. “He tried to ride Pegusus up to Olympus. He believed he could take his place there with the immortals.” (Hamilton 142) The gods were displeased by this idea and, knowing this, the Pegasus threw Bellrophon off his back before he could travel to Olympus. Then, in consequence for his arrogance, Bellerophon roamed alone until his death. “Thereafter, Bellerophon, hated of the gods, wandered alone, devouring his own soul and avoiding the paths of men until he died.” (Hamilton 142) This was hubristic because Bellerophon allowed his pride to keep growing until he compared himself to be as powerful and deserving as the Gods. Each of the characters expressed their hubristic qualities in different ways and to different extents. However, because it is still a negative personality aspect, each of the people were harmed or punished in the end.

The competition is divided into a specified number of rounds, usually 3 minutes long, with 1-minute rest periods between rounds. Although amateur boxing is widespread, professional boxing has spread on an even greater scale since the early 18th century Boxing originated when a person first lifted a fist against another in play. The ancient Greeks believed fist fighting was one of the games played by the gods on Olympus so it became part of the Olympic Games in about 688 BC. During Roman times the sport began to thrive on a wide scale. Boxers fought with leather bands around their fists for protection and sometimes wore metal-filled, leather hand coverings which resulted in bloody, often duel-to-death, battles. In 1866 the Marques of Queensberry gave his support to a new set of rules, which were named in his honor. These rules limited the number of 3-minute rounds, eliminated grappling and wrestling, and made the use of gloves mandatory. Bare knuckle didn’t stop but it was certainly decreasing. With the growing popularity of boxing, especially in the United States, weight classes other than the unlimited heavyweights emerged. These classes became popular as world championships were held at the new weights. But, as boxing involves powerful people hitting each other repeatedly, often around the head, there are other risks, most serious of all being permanent severe brain damage. Help Peer edit paper? A.O Literature Apollo Greek god 5/10/09-5/11/09 Apollo Apollo is one of the most widely known Greek gods. He had many skills such as healing and being a gifted musician. He was also being blessed with a charming nature. Apollo was associated with law, philosophy, and the arts. He sometimes gave the gift of prophecy to mortals whom he loved, such as the Trojan princess Cassandra (Ingfei 1). Apollo was born to the Greek god Zeus and the titan Leto. Zeus was currently married to Hera. When Hera heard that Zeus had impregnated yet again another woman she was furious (The Goddess Path 1). Hera would not allow Leto to give birth to her twins. Leto searched for a place to give birth to Apollo and Artemis. “Finally Leto found an Island that was willing to allow her to give birth, and this island was named Delos (Loggial 1). Leto gave birth without a midwife. Once Artemis was born Artemis helped Leto give birth to Apollo (Loggia 1). “When he was only 4 days old, he took his bow and arrow and went out in search of the snake that had tormented his mother during her pregnancy. Finding the snake named Python, who was said to measure several acres in length; he wounded her with his first shot” (The Goddess Path 1). Apollo embarked on many Journeys such as his journeys on earth “after a short time in Thrace, he went on his way and put in at the Island of Delos” (Grant 58). When Apollo returned to Olympus all the Greek gods were upset with him for killing the Python that had tormented his mother during her pregnancy. All the Greek gods persuade Zeus to punish Apollo for his actions. (The Goddess Path1). “Zeus, even though he favored this child, felt Apollo still be punished for killing the Python just to teach him a Lesson (The Goddess Path 1). Zeus sent Apollo into exile for one year on earth as a mortal to work for a herdsman (The Goddess path 1). Apollo had many lovers his first encounter of love was with a river god’s daughter Daphne. Daphne never wanted to marry and made her father swear that he would never force her to marry (The Goddess Path 1). Apollo loved her and he pursued her. But she ran from him one day when Apollo was finally catching on she called out for Mother Earth and asked “Daphne cried for Mother Earth to strike her dead or change her form so that she would not be appealing and would not have to endure his love. Instantly she turned into laurel tree” (The Goddess Path 1). When Apollo finally caught on he saw her as a tree and torn one of her leaves off and promised never to forget her. Apollo then returned home to Mt. Olympus. When he got there he heard of a revolt against his father Zeus. Poseidon and other Greek gods had formed together trying to overthrow the ruthless and selfish ruler (The Goddess Path1). The attempt to overthrow Zeus had failed, as a punishment for Poseidon and Apollo Zeus sent them to work as mortals for a king in Troy to help build walls around the city (The Goddess Path1). When Apollo and Poseidon term was over the King refused to pay Apollo and Poseidon for their work on the wall and Poseidon and Apollo sent many plagues. Finally when the king realized what they had done he paid them for their services (The Goddess Path1). Apollo once again returned to Mt. Olympus and charmed the gods and goddess with his skills of music. “Music has played a vital role in the ritual. Hymns or paeans were commonly sung to Apollo, Bacchus and Aesulapius” (Bernstein 122). Apollo had never married but had many affairs with mortals and goddess. He had a son by the name of Aesulapius which was killed by Zeus for resurrecting a mortal from the dead (The Goddess Path1). Apollo was known for his outstanding skills. He was an honest person that could never lie. He freely accepted his son’s Death because he respected the laws which made Apollo a just god. “Apollo was, however, not just a fighter - like many of the other Olympian gods, he was a lover as well” (Loggia 1). Apollo had many attributes, but he wasn’t originally the chariot riding sun god Helios. God of prophecy healing, music, archery, light and truth” (N.S Gill 1). This is why Apollo was one of the most widely known and respected Greek gods. Please help peer edit my paper for commas misspellings or any other ideas. MLA format
tell me if my paper is any good, and if i should change anything? Chelsey Phillips June 10, 2010 Mrs. Anderson Period 2 Lightning Thief In 2005 the #1 New York Times best selling series book was published, Lightning Thief. Rick Rordan, as the author, writes the story of a young Demigod who has to fight Gods, escape from the Underworld, and save his mother, all in one summer. His name is Percy Jackson. As the son of Poseidon, Zeus is convinced he stole his master bolt. With the lord of the gods trying to get revenge, Percy is forced to find the bolt, that he did not steal, and bring it to Zeus to save his and his father’s reputation. He was kicked out of several boarding schools. He has dyslexia, and ADHD, but helps him threw his journey. Dyslexia helps him read ancient Greek, while ADHD is to his advantage in a fight. Percy is an inspiring character. Though only twelve, he has done things no other grown man could think of doing. In the story Percy truly had growing bravery. Chiron once said “He sensed you were something special…”(64) And he was right. One day he got kicked out of another boarding school, the next, he kills a Minotaur, then confronts the lord of the underworld. No one can really beat that. Unless maybe your Odysseus. Odysseus killed many, many monsters on his 20 year long journey home. What’s spine tingling is he stared in the face of death, and still kept his cool. He tricked the Cyclops in 10 minutes, while any other man it would take weeks to plan. He really doesn’t let his wits go to waste. That’s why Athena helped him along his journey. So which one wears the golden meddle? The young, spirited demigod who unscrews Knoroes plan to take over Olympus, or the witty, self-sacrificing man in which just wants to get home and see his loving family? Both deserve the hero award. Likewise, they both have flaws making the title “hero” further from their reach. Percy Jackson did battle many villains, but he couldn’t have done it with out the uses his father granted him with. If Percy is hurt in a fight, all he has to do is jump into the shallow end of a pool of water and he is healed with a bonus of extra strength and energy. Also, he did show an amount of cowardness when he was attempting to fight Echidna and her son, Chimera. Falling threw a hole in the St. Louis arch to get away wasn’t all that courageous. However, Odysseus doesn’t have as big of a heart as Percy Jackson does. Odysseus was just killing off monsters as they came, only trying to get home. He didn’t slay the beasts for mankind; only because they were in his path. Both men are courageous heroes in their own ways. Percy with the expanding knowledge, strength, and bravery. Odysseus with the with the sense of right and wrong in most cases; for example the island he got stuck at, and was warned not to eat the lotus, which he didn’t. Unfortunately, his men weren’t as smart as him, thus making a problem. Although, their weaknesses do get in the way of heroic actions, both deserve pride in their thoughtful doings.
Does this sound like a good paper? and can you tell me if i have any punctuation errors? Who was an intelligent, powerful defender in war, but also a peacemaker? That’s right, the god Athena, also known as Minerva. Athena’s father was Zeus, and her mother was Métis. She had one sister, who was Aphrodite, and one brother, named Hermes, she also had a son, named Erichthonius. Athena lived on Mt. Olympus with the other Ancient Greek gods and goddesses. She ruled over the city of Athens and domestic crafts such as: the spindle, the loom, and the cooking pot. She also ruled over arts, and civilizations. The symbols of Athena were the owl, a shield, and the olive branch. Athena grew up without a mother. Athena’s father swallowed his pregnant wife Métis, because her soon to be baby, Athena was said to overthrow Zeus and inherit his kingdom. One day Zeus had a terrible headache and his head began to swell. All of a sudden Athena popped out from his head, fully clad in armor, with her shield and spear ready in her hands. Athena is said to be brave, heroic, wise and very mature. An interesting story about Athena is how she had a son. Athena was planning to go and see her half brother Hephaestus to see if he would make her some armor. Poseidon told the smith Hephaestus that Athena was on her way to make love to him. When she arrived, Hephaestus would not let Athena pay for the armor, but instead he would do the job for love. Athena agreed and watched him build the armor. When he finished, he threw himself upon her trying to rape her. Athena threw him off herself, but she was too late. Some of his semen landed on her thigh, which made her the mother of the child. She wiped the semen off her thigh and it landed on the earth, so Gaia, the Greek goddess of the earth, became Erichthonius’ other mother. Gaia was the one who had the baby, but did not want it so she gave it to Athena. Athena, the virgin god, never married and she too gave away her son Erichthonius. She will always be remembered as the virgin goddess of wisdom, and warfare.

I think I am done with this painting . . . what do you think? I hate to overwork paintings, so I think I am close to stopping. I am not completely happy with the cloud right over the summit, so I might change it a bit. Is there anything else on this painting that might make it better? http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q138/labrys59/100_2123.jpg This is done in pastels, and is 14" x 23" on Fabriano Roma paper. I painted it from a photo (actually two taped together to get more of a panorama) that I took on the moraine over the Blue Glacier on Mt. Olympus in Washington State back in '95. The summit is actually the little rock to the left of the big dome . . . I didn't get there because the weather closed in that day. But I DID hike 23 miles with a 45lb. backpack to get the photo! Need help with photography help with film processing and enlarging!? Hi. I have a tight budget (not old enough to work) and just recently got a color enlarger, and 2 35mm's from a friend. The enlarger is a Saunders/LPL D6700 Dichroic. The one camera (one that has a lens) is an Alpa Surgical 81. The one that works (but has no lens) is an Olympus-Pen F. My question(s) are/is as follows: If I buy regular 35mm film, and take pictures, what are the different chemicals and what are the steps to only PROCESS the film (not develop it)? The second question is: What are the chemicals and the steps for DEVELOPING the film on the enlarger, and what kind of photographic paper do I need? Any help would be truly appreciated, and for those who still do it out there, I'm probably going from digital to manual. Thanks in advance.
My story needs help. Need to finish for school, need Ideas. Thanks :)? MYTH By: Naomi Beagan. Chapter 1; Jordan "Taxi!" Shouted the disgruntled 19 year old, On a busy New York City street. Hundreds of cars zoomed by the young man, before a yellow cab stopped in front of him. Gratefully he jumped in and told the driver, "7th Ave and W 46th ST, please." The young man took a piece of paper out of his briefcase. Jordan, the young man, fixed his hair. He impatiently asked "Do you mind going a bit faster? I am going to be late!". The driver grumbled to himself and sped up the car. The driver raced faster and faster. A light turned red, but still the car didn't stop. Screaming in sheer terror, Jordan could not wrench his eyes from what would surely be his end. Chapter 2: Nicole and Hunter On a beautiful autumn morning in Boston, Nicole dashed about the kitchen dining room after her family. She took her infant sister and set her on the table trying to keep an eye on the rest of the kids. Among her siblings was her twin brother, Hunter. Scanning the house for her brother she saw he was playing cards with some more of her brothers. Nicole walked over to her brother. "Hey Hunter." Nicole said "Sissy I am bored. Can we go somewhere?" Hunter asked. "You just want to drive my car." Nicole sighed, rolling her eyes. "No." he replied. "Fine we'll walk then." Nicole smirked. "Fine." Hunter agreed. They went outside and began walking downtown, taking the back way through the forest. You could hear the jingling of change in their pants, then two loud screams, and they were gone.... Chapter 3; Andrea. "Charge it." Andrea said to the cashier and he put her new shoes in the checkout bag. She handed him her credit card and he scanned it. Andrea smiled and took her belongings, then headed to the next store. She tossed her hair back and opened the door to a clothing store and her smile got wider as she noticed the new shipments of the latest fall fashions. Andrea grabbed the cutest outfit to try on and headed towards the dressing rooms. But suddenly, She dropped her things, tried to scream, but it was too late. The beast already had her. Chapter 4; Kore Kore rolled out of bed, not wanting to get up. The sun was shining through the window. "WAKE UP!" Her mother shouted. "Don't want to!" Kore half mumbled, half shouted. You could tell Kore was still in deep sleep. "You have to!" Her mom replied. "Why?" She complained. "Just get up." Her mom said annoyed. "Fine." Kore told her. She got dressed and headed downstairs while trying to put her dark brown hair in a ponytail. "Morning." Her mom greeted Kore. She grunted. Kore's father kept drinking coffee and reading his newspaper. Her Mom started to make breakfast. "Darling, you mind getting my flowers from the basement?" Her mother asked her. "Sure." She said kindly. She stumbled down to the basement. She looked around the misty dark basement. A little frighten she grabbed the flowers and started to run, but something grabbed her, she let out a scream, then she was gone. Chapter 6: White Table. Jordan mad yelled, “Where am I!?” Jordan noticed four other people all around him sitting at a white table. Suddenly people appeared on right sides of each person. The leader, a man was at the head of the table. Kore who was confused and a bit frightened, bravely asked “ Where are we and who are you guys?” The man at the head of the table replied, “You in a hidden part inside Mount Olympus, and to answer you first question, I am Zeus.” Hunter was in disbelief. Then out of now where, was an “Ug. What am I wearing?” Andrea asked. The woman on the right side of her had a hurt face. “You don’t like it? I made the dresses myself.” “No, no, the dress is fine but these shoes do not match.” Andrea replied. Hunter laughed. Nicole looked up at the people who had appeared out of nowhere. “So who exactly are all you guys?” She asked. “We are gods, gosh, haven’t any of you ever read Greek mythology?” One of them said. “Um… no!” Andrea shot back. “Well I am Aphrodite.” Aphrodite said. “I’m Andrea.” Andrea said, having no intentions to tell the strange woman her name. “And I am Artemis” The woman on the right of Nicole said.Artimis, the girl on the right of her was more of a child though, and Nicole could feel it. “I am Nicole.” Nicole suddenly blurted out. She felt like she was being tricked, into saying her name. “I am out of here.” Kore said frightened. She was shock how she even got here in the first place and when she tried to get out of her chair she couldn’t and was stuck, thanks to some force. “Hello. I am Persephone.” The woman on the right side of her said, “What’s your name.” Automatically without thinking she said her name, Kore. “Now for you Hunter.” A man said, “I’m Apollo.” Hunter looked to the right of him. “How did you know my name?” He asked Apollo a bit confused. Then Hunter pointed to the man next to Jordan. “Do you know his name?” He pointed to Jordan to Jordan this time. The man gave an evil grin. “His name is Jordan, a The man gave an evil grin. “His name is Jordan, and I am Hades…” Then in a blink of an eye they all appeared on mount Olympus. Chapter 8: Mount Olympus A wind that chilled you down to your bones swept through the children's summer clothes, making shivers' tingle down their spines. "It's cold!" Andrea complained, "Why didn't you tell me we were going to a freaking cold mountain I could have brought my $280 dollar pink wind breaker jacket!" "Oh quit your whining!" Zeus said as he snapped his fingers, making matching gray parkas appear in each of the child’ hands. "Oh thank you Zeus!" Nicole said, astonished at the quick appearance. "Now, here’s what you have to do." Zeus started with his directions, "Each of you will be left alone on this mountain, however I will give you the powers that your specific God has, so each of you will be unique. Your goal is to find the missing silver orb, that I "misplaced" on this mountain.". "Pfff!!We are not doing that!" yelled Andrea, "You obviously didn’t misplace it, I mean I’m not stupid, I saw your fingers go up when you said misplaced! Why the heck are you using us anyway? Go mess with people your own size!" "As I have told you, we are bored you little brat." Zeus explained. "Look, Andrea! Just shut your mouth okay. I like quests." Hunter said. "Oh fine! But I still don’t understand Zeus, why are you making us do this when you already know where it is!?" Andrea complained once more. "Haha!" Zeus chuckled, "We are Gods! What are we supposed to do for fun instead of watching over the world every single day? Now off you go, good luck and beware, for there are giant snow wolverines!" Zeus chuckles to himself once more. He gave one more snap of his fingers and the children were left all alone on a huge mountain in the middle of now where, with powers they didn’t know existed... How do I use my SLR camera? I got a used Olympus E-410 Evolt camera from my uncle when he bought a new one. ( A Canon Rebel ). Anyway, I'm really confused about it. I know NOTHING about photography and I've been using fully automatic point-and-shoot cameras my entire life. So I have some questions: 1) What is aperture, how do I adjust it on my camera and what are the uses of changing aperture settings? 2) What does exposure change in a photo and how do I adjust it on my camera? 3) What are the other manual settings on my SLR camera which I can change and I can benefit from and how do I change them on my camera? Please please please. I have a pretty expensive camera that's being used as a paper weight right now because I really don't know how to use it and I want to really start getting into photography. Thank you so much!
A megapixel camera question? Ok, I have an Olympus cam with 8MPs on it. While I know that setting the resolution to higher allows you to produce larger size prints on paper without fuzzy areas or blatant pixellation, I have this to ask... I usually bring my camera for travel and I want to maximize my 1gb card without sacrificing picture quality. Now, my pictures/prints range from 4x6's to the occasional 5x7s. So, with that in mind, which would be better, setting my camera to a 4mp resolution or a 5mp resolution? While any man could say 5MP is better, it is well within both resolutions' capacities to handle 4x6 and 5x7. I just want to know if there is even a difference in a 4mp resolution and a 5mp resolution for a 4x6 print and what they are. Thanks!
Best DSLR reccomendations, $600-$800, above avg low light abilites, great color? I'm looking to buy a DSLR, with a budget around $600-$800. Most important to me is: -great low light shooting capabilities (low noise at high ISO); I take many action shots for my school paper -rich, bright colors -decent kit lens that can take a nice macro shot Also: -I would love a live view LCD, but this limits my options quite a bit, so it's not necessary. -How helpful would you say image stabilitzation is? So far I've looked at Olympus E-510 Canon Rebel Xti Nikon D40x Nikon D80 Pentax k10d Any recommendations would be wonderful as I am overwhelmed with options! Thanks! Any details about your recommendations would be awesome :)
Is this really a poem, or is it prose? With holiday read in hand I lie in a neglected sun-baked garden, dotted with drooping daises and dandelion clocks. As a constant reminder that this is Greece nearby stand gnarled silver-green olive trees the epitome of history and peace. Behind me is a crumbling white-washed wall. Cascades of white roses tumble like a waterfall down its face filling the air with a rare and delicate perfume. In the distance comes an insistent coo of a dove from the fir-clad hills above. Its call creating a soothing counter-melody to the noisy sparrows, gossiping and fighting in the fruit-free trees. So clear in the sky, as if just created, I see Mount Olympus, home of the gods in the majestic white clustering clouds, painted on a canvas of an unreal blue. Its hue reflecting the turquoise serenity of the timeless Aegean Sea. Across my vision swifts persistently swoop, their flight an erratic dart and dive, like paper aeroplanes tossed by a carefree child. The sun is high in the late afternoon, toasting my pale English skin, presenting me with scattered freckles and a drowsy happiness within. My book is too heavy for my hand My head droops in the heat My eyes close My breathing slows I'm lost in blissful sleep.

What is the best playback quality voice recorder for a University student to record lectures in a large room? I have lots of large classes and tried a Panasonic recorder that I placed about six feet from the instructor- and the playback was still only semi-audible. I need something that picks up a speaker's voice clearly from a distance, preferably from the back of an auditorium, without being overpowered by background noise like papers russling, coughing etc. I have an Ipod and really don't care if the recorder can play or hold music. I do however want something with software/software compatability to convert and store the voice files on my computer. Reasonable amount of storage hours is also a must, so that I can keep several days of lectures on the recorder if I don't have time to put them onto my computer. I have heard that Olympus DM-10 and DS-30 are good, but from their product descriptions they seem to be made for close range dictation. Above all, the playback sound quality is most important. Any help with this is most appreciated. Thanks!
Olympus OM-1... film help?!? I need to take photos for a school assignment, but just realized I forgot to get film from my teacher, which I desperately need. I have no clue what film I am suppose to use. I can go to the store, but I did find some film, but have no clue if it is suitable. It's Fujifilm Superia X-tra, colour print film. Can I use it, even though we use black and white film? Will it turn out the same on photo paper? Will developing it be the same process? And if I can't use it, can someone tell me what film to get. Thanks.
Could someone with a kind-heart please proofread my paper? Please!!! I know it is a lot but I really dont have anybody to proofread my papers and I also know that my english isn't great. thank you Apollo was known for many things he was the god of the sun, medicine, poetry and music. From a young age it was clear he was extremely talented a musical protégée .His father Zeus was the King of the Gods, his mother Leto was daughter of Titans Coeus and Phobe. Apollo lived in a small unknown village. His musical talent made him famous throughout the the heavens and the earth. His music was cherished and treasured throughout the heavens. Everyday Apollo would throw concerts for the Gods. He would entertain the Gods both day and night. He would sing melodious songs and play his golden lyre. One morning during Apollo’s heavenly concerts he heard a low constant murmur that distracted him. Apollo ignored the murmur and continued to serenade the Gods with his singing and playing. As always at the end of his morning concert the Gods showered him with gifts of praise, gold and incense. While Apollo tuned his lyre and warmed up is voice for his dinner performance, he began to hear the that constant murmur that he heard earlier. As the sunset and the stars began take their place one by one in the constellation the murmur began to get louder. By the end of his evening the murmur grew into a full melodic song that distracted Apollo. The melodic song was the voice of a poor street musician who was singing a praizollo (a song of praise to Apollo). He continued to play his golden lyre but stopped singing. The sweet distant song began to distract the Gods from their evening dinner. The melodic voice enchanted the gods and diverted their attention from Apollo. Soon all the gods stopped eating and began dancing gleefully to the amazing voice from the distance. "That voice is so ethereal" said Athena. "My heart melts at the sound of that voice" said Aphrodite’s."That's one talented musician!" exclaimed Zeus. Upset by the fact that his thunder was being stolen by this unknown singer Apollo puts down the lyre and asks “Who is this ,that dare interrupts my musicale", That harmonious voice is coming from the dark abyss that leads to earth “someone said. With every melodic note Apollo got increasingly angry, his ego bruised from being upstaged. For as long as he could remember he was known as the psalmist of the gods throughout heavens. Fed up and full of embarrassment Apollo was determined to find out who was enchanting the gods with their singing. Apollo looks down into the abyss and finds that it is the voice of Hummin an old, emaciated, street singer from earth. Humiliated and angry Apollo calls out ."Come out you coward and show your face. You will not sabotage me from afar, be a man and stop hiding your face". From the dismal abyss crawled an old wrinkled, emaciated vagabond. The vagabond was a unknown destitute musician that played on the local street on earth. "I called for the singer why are you here" Apollo asked angrily. With his lip barely parting he sang "It is I who you seek, it is I a fellow who is meek" Blown away, amazed and impressed by the voice of the vagrant he grew even more angry. Apollo hated admitting even to himself that the destitute street musician sang better than him. you sings Praisallo from my heart both day and night that I pray would reach the ears of heaven and be pleasing to Apollo. Hummin attempted to apologize to Apollo. "I did not mean to embarrass you, I am so sorry" said Hummin. Apollo began to argue back and forth with Hummin. "I am the greatest singer and musician in the havens and in the earth" shouted Apollo. "Oh yes your are" graveled Hummin. As Hummin was pleading his case to Apollo. The gods began to chant “Sing Off/ Play Off and we will say who is the best musician and singer in the heavens and on the earth. The gods sent out an announcement throughout the heavens that there would be a battle between the Hummin an unknown street singer from earth and the esteem, renowned, heavenly reverenced Apollo the god of sun, medicine, poetry and music. The duel will take place on Mount Olympus at noon and will be judged by Zeus. When Apollo heard about duel, he knew that he would win for his father and had given him the title of the greatest psalmist and musician in the heavens and the earth. Full of confidence Apollo began to sing and play his best songs, the ones that were favored most by the gods. When Apollo completed is morning concert the gods all smiled with glee and admiration and the crowd began to clap thunderously. Hummin stepped to the center of the arena and began to sing from the depths of his heart. As he began to sing the arena became deathly silent. The gods were mesmerized and began to dance uncontrollably to the passionate praises that fell from Hummin's lips. Out of the silence shouts of joy erupted from the gods and the crowd. "Hummin" "Hummin" shoute

He wasn’t planning on getting in, but once he was done with his homework Landon stuck his feet in and ate the apple brought along. Watching children play. Landon looked down the water, he dropped in the water still in his clothes, not know why he even did that, soon he was unable to breathe and panic entered his mind. A man looked down the swimming hole to see the boy who had gone in, but Landon was gone. Chapter 6; Jordan mad yelled, “Where am I!?” Jordan noticed 5 other people all around in a white table. Suddenly six men and women appeared on the right side of each person there. Landon as confused and a bit frighten, bravely asked “ Where are we and who are you guys?” The man on the right side of him who looked like the leader replied, “You are on Mount Olympus, and I am Zeus.” Landon was in disbelief. “I’m Landon.” He said back. Then out of now where, was an “UP! What am I wearing?” Andrea stated. The woman on the right side of her had a hurt face. “You don’t like it?” The woman asked. “No, no, the dress is fine but these shoes do not match.” Hunter laughed at that and Nicole looked up at the people who had appeared out of nowhere. “So who exactly are all you guys?” She asked. “We are gods,” One of them said. “Gosh, haven’t any of you ever read Greek mythology?” “Um… no!” Andrea said. “Well I am Aphrodite.” Aphrodite said. “I’ Andrea.” Andrea said, having no intentions to tell the strange woman her name. “And I am Artemis” The woman on the right of Nicole said. She was more of a child though, her emotions brought that in and Nicole could feel it, she felt like she was being tricked, into saying her name. “I’m Nicole.” She said. “I am out of here.” Kore spoke for the first time. She had been in shock how she even got here in the first place. When she tried to get out of her chair she couldn’t and was stuck with some force. “Hello. I am Persephone.” The woman on the right side of her said, “What’s your name.” Automatically without thinking she said her name. “Now for you Hunter.” A man said, “I’m Apollo.” Hunter looked the right of him. “How did you know my name?” He asked a bit confused. Hunter asked “Hey you there,” Hunter pointed to the man next to Jordan. “Do you know his name?” He pointed to Jordan. The man gave an evil grin. “His name is Jordan, and I am Hades…” Chapter 7: Vacation plans. “We are tried of doing our jobs, basically we want a vacation” Zeus explained. “And you are going to give it to us.” He demanded. “You are bound to our duties until further notice” He explained. “The god or goddess on the right of you is the role you will be playing, we prefer you to use the god’s names for yourself but if you want you may keep your names.”Zeus finished. “Now we will be off, see when I do.” Zeus said and with a snap of his finger they all vanished.
